STICKING with a school theme this week, here is a lovely class photograph sent in by T&A reader Michael Bateman.
Says Michael: “This is my school photo, taken in 1969. I’m on the bottom row, third from the left.
“It was taken in 1969 at James Street School in Thornton.”
The school dates back to 1831 and was originally called St James’s C of E School, before changing its name to avoid confusion with Thornton First School on James Street.
Many Thornton villagers will have happy memories of the old church school.
