A WALKER who injured her leg while walking was helped to safety by Cave Rescue Organisation (CRO) members.

She was walking above Settle on Friday and the CRO used its all-terrain vehicle to assist.

A spokesperson for the Clapham-based team said: "North Yorkshire Police called the team to assist a walker who had fallen and injured her lower right leg on Middle High Hill above Settle.

"Team members attended, assessed the casualty, and splinted her injured leg.

"They then stretchered her to CRO3, (the team's all-terrain vehicle) which had made its way to the top of the nearest track.

"CRO3 transported the casualty down to Settle, where she was handed over to our colleagues from the Yorkshire Ambulance Service and Yorkshire Air Ambulance."
