CONTROVERSIAL parking charge changes will now be implemented in Calderdale.
“Nudging” people out of their cars to use public transport, walk or cycle to help reduce emissions is one reason for increasing charges, said senior councillors.
Most of the changes involve charge rises on some, but not all, car parks.
Calderdale Council’s Cabinet has now released its earlier decision to make the changes for implementation, with some more alterations after listening to concerns voiced by residents and councillors.
The senior councillors had been asked to reconsider their proposals by the authority’s Place Scrutiny Board.
The issue had been referred back to Cabinet as some felt there had been little opportunity among non-Cabinet councillors to discuss proposals and their possible impacts.
Cllr Lynn highlighted the climate emergency and said: "We really do have to continue to try and nudge and encourage people wherever possible to consider alternative modes of transport."
