THE jailing of four men for their roles in a major Bradford cocaine trafficking ring had severely disrupted the activities of an organised crime group, West Yorkshire Police said.

Gareth Hughes, 41, of Broadstone Way, Holme Wood, Bradford, who played a leading role in two drugs conspiracies, was today imprisoned for 13 years at Bradford Crown Court.

Hughes’ son, Billy Hughes-Whiteley, 19, also of Broadstone Way, was sent to a young offender institution for four years and three months.

Andrew Fry, 36, of Andover Green, Holme Wood, was jailed for three years and four months.

Krishan Patel, 25, of Grovelands, Bolton, Bradford, a semi-professional footballer, was imprisoned for four years.

They were all sentenced for conspiring to supply cocaine.

Afterwards, Detective Inspector Tom Levitt, of Bradford’s Precision Team, said: “This was a significant and complex investigation which has severely disrupted the activities of an organised crime group and removed a Class A drug dealing enterprise from the streets of Bradford.

“Drugs have no place in our communities and we welcome the court’s lengthy sentences handed down today.

“I hope this reassures people living in these areas that we are determined to tackle organised crime and drugs gangs operating in and on our estates.

“We would like to thank the community who provided us with information and intelligence about drug dealing.

“Reports can be made to Bradford Police via 101 or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
