POLICE officers caught more than 20 drivers for offences by using different tactics.

Two officers from West Yorkshire Police conducted a traffic operation in the Brighouse area today, focusing on the fatal four offences (mobile phones, seatbelts, drink and drug driving, and speeding).

They made use of the police bicycle and mobile foot patrol instead of a marked vehicle.

The Calderdale Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) said on its Facebook page this was because "it is sometimes difficult to catch offences in a marked vehicle".

Together they managed to deal with just under 30 drivers for various reasons.

Eight of those were caught using phones while driving, six were not wearing seatbelts and four drove without due care.

The officers also dealt with document offences - one person was reported for no MOT, another for no insurance and an individual who was driving not in accordance with their driving licence.

They even seized one vehicle.

Seven drivers were given advice by the officers for their seatbelts.

Calderdale NPT said: "We will be back out again soon."
