CAVE rescue was called out for the second time in two days to help walkers who had got lost in the dark while on their way down from Ingleborough, in the Yorkshire Dales.

At around 8.30pm on Saturday, a group of three walkers on the Yorkshire Three Peaks route reported themselves lost and with one of their party struggling to walk. The Cave Rescue Organisation's PhoneFind app put them in exactly the same spot as a similarly lost group of walkers on Thursday, last week.

A spokesperson for the Clapham based Cave Rescue Organisation said: "Three Three Peaks walkers said they were lost, coming off Ingleborough in the dark, with one of their party struggling to walk.

"They said they thought they were about a mile from Horton-in-Ribblesdale and the team’s PhoneFind app put them in exactly the same location as in the incident on February 16, so while other members headed for Horton as a precaution, two local members walked up from Beecroft, found the missing persons, escorted them down to a member’s car and drove them to their own car, parked in Horton."
