THE CEO of a business which made pitches for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar will return to his old university – right here in Bradford – to give a talk this week.

George Mullan, of SIS Pitches – which has constructed sports surfaces for major football and rugby tournaments – graduated from the University of Bradford with an MBA from the School of Management in 1988.

On Wednesday, he will take part in the latest International Guest Speaker Series event, organised by the University’s Faculty of Management, Law and Social Sciences.

His talk will explore key business lessons, learned from some of SIS’ work with the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Juventus.

“I’m delighted to be returning to the university, although our MBA year group has kept in contact and has held regular reunions over the years,” said George.

“The key message of my guest lecture, from an entrepreneurial perspective, is that you have to fail to achieve.

“My best advice for today’s students is to maintain perseverance and an open mind.”

SIS constructed over 40 pitches for the World Cup in Qatar.

The business also completed six stadium pitches in Russia for the 2018 World Cup, before closing its Russian office last year after the war in Ukraine.
