This new image of the proposed Listerhills student village, in Bradford, was released today as the project's developer outlined its plans to the world's leading property experts.
Manchester-based Mi7 developments said its original plan for a £100 million student village had now evolved into a £150 million vision for a hub of academic, medical and business excellence.
The company was taking the chance to unveil specific details of the scheme during the MIPIM world property conference in Cannes, in the South of France.
The Listerhills scheme will revolve around an iconic student village, designed to deliver carbon-neutral living for 1,000 students, with an extra 80 apartments for post graduate, mature, overseas students and lecturers.
In conjunction with Yorkshire Forward, a Business Innovations Centre will inject new businesses into the city, with 20,000 sq ft of serviced offices for starter units, offering entrepreneurial opportunities for Bradford residents and graduates. A new dental institute will bring an extensive range of specialist services to Bradford, placing the city on the map as a dental school of excellence while offering both private and NHS services.
Mi7 has also revealed that the development will include a medical health centre to accommodate up to six GPs.
The centre will provide walk-in assessments, a diagnostic centre and other health care facilities.
Meanwhile, a four-star 130-bed hotel will be located within the landmark Listerhills Tower and will provide restaurant, bar, conference and leisure facilities.
Mohammed Ishtiaq, of Mi7, said: "The collective development synergises a range of sectors, including education, research and development, commercial, residential and healthcare that will help build Bradford's economic future.
"It has been designed to nurture each sector from an academic, University start right through to developing professional careers and new business opportunities."
The scheme is being developed with backing from Middle Eastern institutional investor Projenco Al Khaleej.
The benchmark project, part of a wider plan for a £750 million Learning Quarter, outlined in yesterday's Telegraph & Argus, is designed to set a precedent of the highest quality for future sustainable student development on an international scale. The development also fulfils the environmental aspirations of the city's university and college to develop a more sustainable future for Bradford.
Clive Wilson, director of estates at Bradford University, said: "The Listerhills sustainable student village will have a huge impact on the University and the academic sector in Bradford as a whole, bringing superior residential, leisure and learning facilities to the city. This development will provide an environment where students can learn about a sustainable development by actually living in one."
Councillor Andrew Mallinson, Bradford Council's executive member for regeneration, said: "The Listerhills development is one of the landmark schemes within the city's innovative Learning Quarter. The overall £750 million scheme will create a thriving ecological and academic neighbourhood in the west of the city centre surrounding the university and college, and the Mi7 development plays a key role in this."
