A NEW virtual reality exhibition opens at the National Science and Media Museum on Friday.
'Thresholds' is a VR experience created by artist Mat Collishaw, that recreates William Henry Fox Talbot's first photography exhibition in 1839.
The immersive experience allows people to walk through a digitally reconstructed room and handle virtual prints of Talbot's photographs.
People can also look through digital windows, hear the sounds of a demonstration taking place outside, and even feel the heat from a coal fire.
Talbot, born in 1800 in Dorset, was one of the early pioneers of photography.
The VR experience will be accompanied by Immersion, a selection of objects exploring immersive technology from the 1800s to present day.
Admission to the exhibition costs £3, and is suitable for people aged 13 and above.
