A MAN is being questioned by police after an elderly woman was the victim of a violent mugging in a Bradford street.
The woman, 74, was robbed of her bag at the junction of Low Green Terrace and Southfield Lane in Great Horton shortly after 12.30pm on Monday.
CCTV footage of the incident, which has been widely shared on Facebook, shows a man walking behind the woman before grabbing her bag and pulling her to the floor.
He then drags her along the cobbled floor before repeatedly stamping on her until he is able to rip the bag from her grasp.
The man, wearing a white hooded top, then flees the scene on foot, leaving the woman lying on the ground.
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said the woman was not seriously injured, but was taken to hospital, where she is said to be recovering this morning.
A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently in custody.
Anyone with information should contact police on 101.
