A MANAGEMENT committee has been formed to oversee the transformation of Silsden Library to a community-run facility.
Responsibility for the library, in Silsden Town Hall (pictured), will be relinquished by Bradford Council within weeks.
A meeting for prospective volunteers is being held at the town hall on Thursday, March 9, from 7.30pm.
Opening hours for the new service will be agreed and a rota of assistants drawn-up.
"Appeals for more helpers to come forward to ensure the library is frequently open have been posted throughout the town," said a spokesman.
Bradford Council has been inviting residents in several communities, including Silsden, to take on the running of their local libraries to save them from closure due to public spending cuts.
The situation in Silsden has been complicated by the fact the library is in the town hall, which the council also wants to hand over to the community.
