Art students have taken inspiration from the past for a new city centre exhibition.
Archives is a collection of art work put together by students from Bradford School of Art and is currently on display at the Kala Sangam Art Centre.
The show includes work from first year students on higher education courses in textiles, graphics, interior design, photography and visual arts.
Students were tasked with coming up with collections after exploring the archives. Some used the Textile Archive housed at Bradford College as their source while others delved into the archive at the National Media Museum or Bradford Library.
The resulting show opened at Kala Sangam on Friday.
Hannah Lamb, lecturer at Bradford School of Art, part of Bradford College, said: “This is the very first project for our first year students and for them to have their work exhibited at Kala Sangam is excellent - it puts their work in a professional context.
“Students learnt about fundamental creative ideas of visual research, documenting ideas and worked in studios and workshops, exploring a range of media and materials.
“Students made visits to local design and industrial archives, explored what an archive is and considered how artists and designers use archival material to inform their creative ideas.
“Fundamental to this project was the opportunity to work as part of a ‘studio collective’ to share ideas and work together with students from across Bradford School of Art.”
