The family of a missing Greengates man have been informed of a body being found in the canal at Dobson Locks, Apperley Bridge.
The discovery was made by a jogger shortly after 9pm yesterday.
A fire crew from Bingley helped retrieve the deceased, who has not been officially identified, and police cordoned off the area for a scenes of crime team to investigate.
Underwater search teams have been searching the Leeds and Liverpool Canal around Apperley Bridge this week for 57-year-old Derrick Fisher who went missing from his home in Springdale Crescent, Greengates, at about midnight last Thursday.
A police spokesman said: "Police were called to Dobson Lock in Apperley Bridge at about 9.12pm yesterday after receiving a report of a body in the canal.
"Emergency services attended and recovered the body of a man from the water.
"The man was believed to be in his fifties and there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances. The family of missing Bradford man Derrick Fisher have been informed and a file has been prepared for the Coroner."
