MOTORISTS experienced delays on the M62 as a result of a lorry fire earlier today.
Two lanes were closed on the eastbound carriageway between junctions 26 (Chain Bar) and 27 (Gildersome) following the blaze at about 7am.
All three lanes of the carriageway were open by 8.45am, but one had to be closed again while the fire-damaged lorry was removed.
At one point, congestion stretched back to junction 23 (Huddersfield). Drivers also clogged up alternative routes in an effort to beat the traffic chaos on the motorway.
Bradford firefighters were called to the blaze.

One motorist stuck in traffic said: "I've never seen anything like it. There's chaos. Cars are trying to get off the motorway to avoid it."
