ANDREW Higginson, chairman of under pressure supermarket Morrisons, is the headline speaker at this year''s Bradford Chamber of Commerce dinner.
He was appointed by the Bradford-based grocer in January and has implemented a major overhaul of the senior management team, including ousting former chief executive Dalton Philips and replacing him with former Tesco colleague David Potts as Morrisons strives to overcome the impact of budget rivals Aldi and Lidl which have seriously dented its sales.
Mr Higginson retired from Tesco in 2012 and held a number of senior posts until joining Morrisons. He started his career at Unilever and Guinness before moving into retail in 1990. He was group finance director of Laura Ashley Holdings and The Burton Group before joining Tesco in 1997 and was an executive director 15 years, including finance and strategy director and chief executive of retailing services
Around 400 guests will attend the dinner on Friday November 20 at the Cedar Court Hotel, Bradford.
They will also hear from new chamber president Andy Caton, who is corporate development director at Bradford-based Yorkshire Building Society
