The skies above Bradford were lit up as storms hit the district shortly before midnight last night.
There were also reports of giant hailstones falling in Keighley and Halifax.
LATEST: DISTRICT COUNTS COST OF THUNDERSTORM AFTER GIANT HAILSTONES SMASHED DOWN ON HOMES AND CARS
"While watching an excellent thunder and lightning storm, a giant hail storm broke loose for around five minutes showing no mercy on the roofs of cars," said reader Danny Tillotson (pictured below), from Keighley.
Paul Dobson from Keighley sent us this picture, below, to demonstrate the scale of the huge hailstones that fell - around 4cm!
Graham Carr, from Oakworth, Keighley, sent this picture, below, of hailstones - "some the size of golf balls" - that fell at around 11.30pm last night.
"At its peak there were around 70 to 80 lightning strikes per minute, and trees were stripped of leaves and small branches. My car took the brunt of it with many minor dents on the roof and bonnet," he said.
"Ice balls fell from sky last night during the thunder in Halifax," said Telegraph & Argus reader Adeel Rehman, from Wyke, who sent in this picture, below.
