Her unborn child is also understood not to have survived.
The man, also said to be in his 20s, fled the scene and is being hunted by police.
Officers have sealed off part of Holker Street and two ambulances are outside the house.
A crowd of people have gathered by the cordon.
Friends said the woman, named locally as Nadia Khan, was six months pregnant with her third child.
Her two other children, said to be a boy and a girl aged four and three, are believed to have been in the house when the stabbing took place.
A distraught friend, 42, who did not want to be named, broke down in tears as she said: “She was a very good girl. She was just talking to me last night about going to Ikea on Monday. I was going to take her.
“I cannot believe it. She was so sweet, always laughing and joking.”
Family friend Abdul Khan, 24, said: “She was a nice woman, who kept herself to herself. It is so bad.”
Officers wearing forensic suits are carrying out a detailed search inside the terraced house.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman was not able to give more details of the incident saying the investigation was in its early stages.
