FRIENDS and family of a single mother-of-four who lost her brave battle with breast cancer are raising funds for her family.

Kelly Wright, of Holme Wood, Bradford, died on March 31 after losing her four-year fight against the disease. She was 35.

She also wrote a blog on her Facebook page about her cancer fight called Kelly Wright's Story, after she was diagnosed. This page has been liked more than 3,000 times.

Now a series of events have been planned to raise funds for Miss Wright's children, Dylan, 16, Lewis, 12, Harvey, 7, and Emily, 4.

A sponsored walk will also be held in her honour on Saturday, April 11, from 1pm. This will see a group don pink shirts with her face on them and trek from Holme Wood to Bradford's City Park.

A fun day will be held at The Gallopers pub, Wakefield Road, Bradford, on Saturday, May 2, from noon in her honour.

The event will feature face painters, bouncy castles, stalls and raffles.

Joanna Fowler, 33, one of Miss Wright's friends who had known her since she was seven, paid tribute to her strong and funny friend.

She said: "Kelly was such a character.

"She was such a strong person. She fought her cancer every single day. She would not let it beat her.

"She would hide just how poorly she was to protect the feelings of those people close to her.

"Kelly fought it as hard as she could. She never let on how bad things were for her.

"She never, ever felt sorry for herself.

"She had a wicked sense of humour and just approached things that way.

"She was a great mum. Getting up every morning for her children was what kept her going.

"You could rely on her for anything. She was well known in Holme Wood.

"The whole of the community in Holme Wood will be coming together to support Kelly's family.

"She was all about laughter and making the most of things and had lots of friends.

"She would want to be remembered for her laughter and happy memories. All of her close friends were honoured that she was a part of all of our lives.

"All of her family and friends are overwhelmed by the support we have had from people since Kelly died."

Her funeral will take place at St Christopher's C of E Church, Holme Wood Road, Holme Wood, on Thursday, April 16, from 11am. Family flowers only.

Those who attend are urged to wear something either pink or purple, which were Miss Wright's favourite colours.

This will be followed by a service at Nab Wood Crematorium, Bingley Road, Shipley.
