THREE workmen were taken to hospital after they were overcome by ammonia fumes at a Bradford school.
Firefighters had to don protective chemical suits to tackle the incident at Chellow Heights Primary in Netherlands Avenue yesterday lunchtime.
A Bradford fire service spokesman said the workmen had been decorating in a basement area when a small amount of ammonia, about a litre, was spilled. They started to be overcome by the fumes, left the building and alerted the fire service.
The men were taken to hospital for precautionary checks.
Specialist chemical fire officers diluted the ammonia and swilled it away.
