UNEMPLOYED people under 25 have been urged to sign up for a free construction course in Bradford.

Starting next month social housing group Incommunities’ Swan Project and construction teams are running a four-week taster construction course covering different trade skills which includes work experience opportunities.

The construction training will be held at the housing group’s Training Terrace, at Dudley Hill Business Centre, Knowles Lane, Bradford. This is a custom-built centre which includes ‘mocked up’ training rooms.

The course, which has 12 places available, will include physical challenges such as orienteering and climbing to promote team skills. It will also include the health and safety training to work in the sector.

Staff at the Swan Project will also award the course’s top student £200 towards driving lessons and a provisional licence to help them access work.

Last year, half the residents who completed a similar course with Incommunities went on to secure jobs.

The course starts in the first week of September. To register, call Lisa Naylor on (01274) 257101 or 07908 975010 or e-mail lisa.naylor@incommunities.co.uk.
