A New Year’s makeover is on the cards for Crossflatts Post Office in Keighley Road, near Bingley.
Town MP Philip Davies has received details of proposed changes to the shop aimed at making it more convenient and customer-friendly.
The Post Office is currently canvassing local opinion on a major redesign scheduled to take place in January.
“We’re investing in our branches to make them more modern and convenient for customers and our subpostmasters who run them,” a Post Office spokesman said.
“As part of the programme of investment, we are talking to the subpostmaster about the possibility of changing the branch to one of our new local branches.”
The planned facelift and changes would involve:
* Post Office services offered from two tills on the retail counter in a modern open plan branch instead of the separate security screened counter
* The proposed opening hours would remain the same as now
* Travel insurance and payment by cheque facillities will then only be available at Bingley Post Office.
* Other services remain unchanged.
* The Crossflatts branch may need to close for approximately three days during January 2014 while the refurbishment takes place.
