A driver had to move his van containing flammable chemicals after his pick-up truck parked next to it caught fire today.
Minimal damage was caused to the van, but Odsal fire station watch commander Darrell Hird said there could have been a serious incident if it had set alight.
Police are now investigating the cause.
The Ford pick-up and van were parked close to each other in Wilson Road, Wyke, when firefighters were called at 1.15am.
“The occupier must have been alerted by a noise and he moved his van away,” Mr Hird said.
He said the van had work chemicals in it.
“It could have been quite dangerous,” Mr Hird said.
“It was quite close to some houses and we could have had a bigger incident.”
Firefighters were at the scene for about 45 minutes dealing with the blaze.
