OVER the years, Bradford’s education system has often come under the spotlight for the wrong reasons.
So it’s nice to be able to help redress the balance through the annual Telegraph & Argus Schools Awards.
Another successful ceremony was held on Thursday night as the awards continue to go from strength to strength.
The purpose of the event is to shine a light on all the good work being done in the district’s schools.
And we see all the nominees merely as representative of the amazing work taking place in schools across Bradford every day.
Held at the Aagrah Midpoint in Thornbury on Thursday evening, the School Awards have been running since 2014, and were set up by the T&A with the support of Bradford Council and local education providers.
Once again, we are delighted to have been able to highlight some of the many positive stories of success and achievement in classrooms.
Among those was the remarkable story of a teacher who returned to work after being diagnosed with three types of cancer. The emotional scenes and outpouring of support for Nazrul Islam when he stepped forward to collect his award was among the many high points of the evening.
Hopefully, the awards have given much-deserved recognition to the astonishing effort that goes into developing our children and improving results while coping with the avalanche of change that affects the education sector.
