POLICE have seized a car after it turned out the driver had cancelled their insurance policy shortly after taking it out.
Officers from West Yorkshire Police's Steerside Enforcement Team stopped the black Mercedes-Benz on Hirst Lane, Shipley.
They carried out a document check and discovered the driver was not insured.
A spokesperson from the team said: "The policy had been cancelled in April, shortly after being taken out.
"The vehicle was seized and the driver reported for the offence."
It is illegal to drive a vehicle on a road or in a public place without at least third party insurance.
Punishments can include a substantial fine, points on your licence, and even a disqualification from driving.
West Yorkshire Police's Steerside Enforcement Team operates across the Bradford district.
The team works as part of Operation Steerside, which was launched in the region in 2016 to tackle crimes on the roads.
