A HIGH Eldwick man has denied charges relating to a skip hire company, including that he disposed of waste “in a manner likely to cause pollution or harm to human health.”

Robert Deacon, 63, appeared at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court on Thursday to face four charges brought by the Environment Agency.

They included that at Abacus Skip Hire, based at Old Wood Farm, Bingley Road, High Eldwick, he operated a waste operation for the “deposit, storage and treatment of waste” without an environmental permit, and that he “disposed of controlled waste, namely soil, stones, brick and other demolition waste, plastic, ceramic tiles, glass and carpet, in a manner likely to cause pollution of the environment or harm to human health.”

The charges relate to a period between August 2019 and earlier this month.

Deacon, of Old Wood Farm, High Eldwick, pleaded not guilty to all charges, and asked for the case to be sent to Bradford Crown Court.

He will appear at that court on May 23.
